Overview

Slow and Steady Wins the (Drag) Race is a 3–4 player cooperative deck-builder. Players help their turtle friend Mary Shelley find their inner drag queen and bring it to the runway. The table works together to manage tempo, set up moments, and cash out with big, flashy plays at just the right time.

How it plays

Build momentum with small, reliable actions that compound over time, then perform with higher-impact plays when the table state aligns. The fun lives in reading the room, setting tempo, and knowing when to perform.

Design goals

  • Pick-up-and-play — minimal rules; table is live in minutes.
  • Tempo over speed — reward pacing, timing, and setup.
  • Expressive turns — choices read well around the table.
  • Comeback potential — elastic systems without hard rubber-banding.
  • Short arc, big payoff — compact session, satisfying finale.

Mechanics snapshot

  • Low-friction turn loop with readable outcomes.
  • Simple resources that gate high-impact moves.
  • Soft interaction (blocking, timing) over hard denial.
  • Clear end-conditions for a punchy finish.
